The Star Barn Raising Festival set for July 2 - 4, 2017
Palmyra, PA (April 2017) – DAS Companies, Inc. began an incredible journey two years ago when it purchased “the most recognizable barn in the country,” The Star Barn. The 1877 Star Barn and its ancillary structures have been disassembled and moved from Middletown, Pennsylvania to Ironstone Ranch in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania where they are being meticulously reconstructed and restored.
To commemorate the historic re-raising of The Star Barn, the "crown jewel" of the complex, the public is invited to attend The Star Barn Raising Festival, which will be held July 2 - 4, 2017 (Sunday through Tuesday). Watch the official hand-raising of the timbers, walls, and rafters of this Gothic Revival treasure. The Star Barn’s center cupola will be set in place before the fireworks on July 4th as a “cap” to our celebration.
“This festival will provide an opportunity for the public to be a part of an historic event,” says David Abel, Founder and Steward of DAS Companies, Inc. This once-in-a-lifetime ticketed event offers entertainment and activities for the whole family. Daily hours: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
General admission includes:
- Touring The Star Barn outbuildings
- Touring Ironstone Ranch
- Horse-drawn hitch wagon rides, tractor-pulled hay rides, and pony rides
- Interacting with all the animals: Long horn steer, alpacas, donkeys, draft horses, mini horses, and even our newest addition, a small pot belly pig.
- Inflatable bounce houses and mechanical bull ride
- Free entertainment
- Free parking and shuttle service
- 1/12-scale replicas of The Star Barn Complex
- Fireworks on July 4th
Additionally, learn how a traditional hand barn raising is done or how a wooden peg is made through “hands-on” workshop experiences conducted by Trillium Dell Timberworks (prequalification and a fee is required). You may sign your name on the peg you make and it can become part of The Star Barn.
Food, crafts, and souvenirs will be available for sale at the event.
DUE TO REGULATIONS, TICKETS ARE LIMITED AND AVAILABLE, AS FOLLOWS:
- Single-day, general admission: $25 (age 18+) or $15 (ages 2 - 17).
- Additional tickets available: three-day general admission, Peg-Making Workshop, Traditional Hand Barn Raising Workshop, and senior groups. Find more information at www.TheStarBarn.com.
Bring your own camping chair or blanket, relax, and enjoy watching The Star Barn come to life. Proceeds from ticket sales will be utilized to offset the cost of the event and restoration of The Star Barn and its related structures.
Once complete, The Star Barn will be a premier venue location with facilities that allow organizations of all kinds to lease the barn and its ancillary sites to accommodate everything from weddings to company parties, picnics, dinner theaters, trade shows, etc. The Star Barn and its historic outbuildings, pond, gazebo, and fields will be a backdrop to the most memorable events.
